Tremec 1352-000-251 T-5 5-Speed Manual Transmission Ford

TREMEC's 1352-000-251 is a T-5 "World Class" 5-speed built for Ford rear-wheel-drive applications, most directly 1983-1993 Mustang 5.0L cars, and also used in street rods, kit cars, and hot rods where a compact, lightweight manual transmission is needed. At about 75 lbs dry, it is noticeably lighter than larger Ford manual gearboxes, and its aluminum case is sized to fit where bigger units will not.

Gearing and ratings

Rated for 300 lb-ft of torque, this T-5 pairs a 2.95 first gear with a 0.63 overdrive fifth, trimming highway rpm for quieter, more efficient cruising while still giving a strong launch off the line. It is rated to 6,700 rpm, uses a mechanical clutch release, and offers three shifter mounting positions.

What is in the box

A 10-spline input shaft mates to a 28-spline output, at a 1.125-inch and 1.375-inch diameter respectively, and the unit takes about 2.8 quarts of TREMEC HP-MTF or Dexron III ATF. The shifter assembly, front bearing retainer, and internal shift components ship with the transmission, along with installation documentation, but a bellhousing, clutch kit, flywheel, mount, crossmember, slip yoke, driveshaft, and fluid are not included.

Will this fit a Fox Body Mustang directly? It is built for that application, though you still need a matching bellhousing, clutch, and flywheel sourced on their own to finish the install.

What warranty does it carry? TREMEC will address any material or workmanship flaw within the first year, with service handled directly through the manufacturer.
