Details & Inspection Notes
This Transmission Specialties Powerglide is a two-speed, full-manual racing transmission built on a Chevy bellhousing pattern and rated for 1,100 horsepower, with a built-in trans-brake and a 1.80 first gear aimed squarely at drag-strip launches rather than street driving.
Built for the strip
The full-manual valve body means every shift is driver-controlled, with no automatic shift logic to work around at the tree. A billet steel clutch hub and a 300M input shaft, sized to a TH350/400 input pattern, back up the 1,100-horsepower rating, and the case carries a built-in transmission shield for added protection at the track. It is not set up for lockup operation, and the forward shift pattern keeps gear selection consistent run after run.
Fitment and finishing details
Plan your driveshaft around an 11.250-inch tailshaft and a 30-spline slip-on output yoke. The deep pan is aluminum with a natural finish, and the OEM-style case is aluminum finished in black; fluid fills through the case, and neither fluid nor a dipstick ships with the unit, so both should be on your parts list before the first startup.
Is the trans-brake already installed? Yes, it is included and built in, not a separate add-on.
Is this a remanufactured core? No, this is a new unit, sold individually, built for racers who want a fresh case rather than a rebuilt one.
