Details & Inspection Notes
Older trucks get their own match here: this remanufactured three-speed automatic is built for 1979-and-earlier TH350 applications running NP203/205 transfer cases, using a four-bolt dust cover rather than the setup found on later trucks, so it fits a narrower slice of four-wheel-drive applications than some other Maximizer units.
Confirm the year and transfer case
Because the four-bolt dust cover and NP203/205 pairing are specific to those earlier trucks, check your build year and transfer case type before ordering rather than assuming a universal fit. The Chevy-pattern case runs a forward shift pattern and automatic valve body, with a 2.52:1 first gear, 30 splines at the input, an aluminum case in a black finish, and a stock-profile steel pan with a chrome finish.
Parts you'll still need
Hang onto the speedometer driven gear and housing from your old transmission if it's the same model, since this unit doesn't include new ones. A converter, flexplate, controller, and harness aren't in the box, and neither are the cooler, fluid, or dipstick. It is not lockup compatible. Sold individually, and each is fully remanufactured before it ships.
Will this fit a later transfer case setup? No, this is built around the earlier four-bolt NP203/205 setup specifically. Do I need a new speedometer gear? Only if you aren't reusing one from an identical model transmission.
