Details & Inspection Notes

This remanufactured three-speed runs the Chevy bellhousing pattern with a full manual valve body but, unlike the trans-brake-equipped Mopar units nearby, ships without a trans-brake at all, making it a more straightforward manual-shift competition automatic for builds that don't need a two-step launch.

Specs that set it apart

First gear comes in at 2.48:1, with 30 splines on the input shaft feeding a notably short 4.000-inch tailshaft. The case is aluminum finished black, the pan is stock profile, and output uses a slip-on yoke. It is not lockup compatible, so there's no electronic lockup wiring to worry about either.

Plan to add these

A converter, flexplate, and controller aren't part of the deal here, and neither is the wiring harness, cooler, fluid, or dipstick; all of that is on you to source before install day. The speedometer driven gear and its housing are also left out. Reuse those from your existing transmission if you're swapping in the same model; otherwise order them on their own. Each unit is remanufactured and sold individually, built to the same Chevy bellhousing spec used across this competition range.

Does this have a trans-brake? No, this particular unit skips it in favor of a simpler full manual setup. What tailshaft length should I plan for? A short 4.000 inches, on the shorter end for a competition automatic, so measure your driveshaft before ordering a replacement.

Startup & Installation Checklist

  • Inspect all external gaskets, seals, spark plugs and timing components prior to installation.
  • Refill engine oil, transmission gear oil and coolant to manufacturer-specified capacities before initial cranking.
