The Roush 427 SR (BD427SRPC) takes a second approach to the same 427 small-block Ford displacement, tuned around a performance hydraulic roller camshaft aimed at strong mid-range pull and a smoother idle than an all-out race grind, while keeping the forged-internals, aluminum-head foundation used elsewhere in this range.
Factory-fitted parts
A harmonic balancer, oil pan, timing cover, valve covers, and spark plugs all come pre-installed on this long block. Everything else that finishes the engine — carburetion or EFI, distributor, ignition, exhaust manifolds, air cleaner, computer, wiring harness, and the flexplate or flywheel for your transmission — is left for the builder to add, matched to the rest of the car.
Setup and fuel
Every unit in this family is calibrated and dyno-tested before it leaves the shop. Run premium fuel of 91 octane or higher to suit the compression and cam profile used here, and plan your fuel, ignition, and exhaust around the engine rather than assuming a direct swap. It is not emissions-certified, so it belongs in off-road or racing applications rather than daily street use.

What makes the SR different from a standard 427? Roush tunes this grind more for streetability and mid-range response than an outright race cam.
Does it include a transmission? No, a transmission and ECU are not part of this crate engine.

Startup & Installation Checklist
