The Roush 511 SRFE is a new big-block Ford long block at 511 cubic inches, built with CNC-ported aluminum cylinder heads and a solid roller camshaft for high-RPM, high-torque applications.
What's assembled
Forged pistons, crankshaft, and connecting rods form the rotating assembly, with spark plugs and the timing cover, the harmonic balancer, the oil pan, and the valve covers installed at the factory. Left out of the box entirely are a carburetor or EFI system, throttle body, distributor, exhaust manifolds, computer, wiring harness, flexplate, and flywheel, plus the air cleaner, so the fuel, ignition, and drivetrain hardware are left to the builder.
Who it's built for
Because so much is left open, this big-block suits experienced builders working on high-performance street cars, drag racing engines, and pro-touring projects, including classic Mustangs and Cobra replicas, who already have a fuel system and ignition plan in mind. Roush recommends premium fuel for this combination, and all exhaust, cooling, and drivetrain components still need to be sourced before installation, which makes this a build for a shop or hobbyist already deep into a project rather than a turnkey starting point.
