Details & Inspection Notes
The Quick Time RM-8072 is a steel bellhousing built for Buick, Olds, and Pontiac applications running a T56 or LS1 swap, work-hardened to more than 80,000 PSI and rated at more than double the strength of other steel bellhousings. It is built entirely in the United States, under a patent covering 16 points of its design and manufacturing process.
Why the manufacturing process matters
Quick Time spins its bellhousing cones rather than rolling or stamping them, a process said to produce a more dimensionally stable, accurate fit than bellhousings formed the other two ways. For a bellhousing, that dimensional accuracy is what keeps the transmission, clutch, and flywheel aligned under the stress of hard launches, which matters more as horsepower and clamping loads climb.
Before you bolt it up
Confirm your engine and transmission combination matches a Buick, Olds, or Pontiac T56 or LS1 swap, since bellhousing bolt patterns and dowel pin locations are specific to that combination and will not interchange with other GM families. See other transmission and bellhousing parts for matching clutch and flywheel hardware to go with the bellhousing.
Does a steel bellhousing weigh more than aluminum? Steel construction generally adds weight over an aluminum bellhousing, but it is chosen here for the added strength the work-hardened steel provides, backed by the manufacturer's design patent covering 16 points of the part's construction.
