Details & Inspection Notes
QA1's 52624 crossmember is a tubular front piece sized to the square body C10 built between 1963 and 1972, meant for a truck that already runs one of QA1's coil-over conversion systems rather than as a stand-alone part; it does not include the coil-overs or control arms themselves. Once bolted in, it adds powered rack-and-pinion steering, and QA1 states it saves about 70 lbs. versus the stock setup.
What to check before buying
Fitment calls for C10 spindles compatible with 1973-1987 ball joints, and QA1 notes the inner fenders will need trimming; getting bump steer settings dialed in calls for at least 18 in. wheels, with up to 6 in. of backspacing on those 18 in. wheels or up to 7 in. on 20 in. wheels. Engine mounts are year-range specific and sold separately, and a steering shaft is not part of the box.
What comes with it
The powder-coated crossmember itself adds 2 in. of drop on top of what your coil-overs already give, for up to 8 in. total, and goes in without cutting or welding the frame.
Does it include coil-overs or control arms? No, those come from QA1's separate coil-over conversion kits.
Will I need to modify anything else? QA1 notes you may need different headers or an oil pan, though stock SBC and BBC pans fit, and possibly new power steering hoses depending on your setup.
