Details & Inspection Notes
Powermaster's 8-37146 runs on Powermaster's Ford Upgrade case as a 16-volt race alternator, finished in chrome and rated at 140 amps, marked by Powermaster for racing use only rather than street driving.
Why 16 volts
This alternator is designed around a 16-volt electrical system rather than a lower-voltage street charging setup, so confirm your battery, wiring and accessories are all built for 16-volt operation before installing it; pairing the wrong voltage system is not a simple bolt-on swap.
Construction and mounting
It is internally regulated and wired as a 1-wire unit, which keeps the installation to a single charge wire rather than running a separate field or sense circuit. Mounting is a straight 6.93-inch style, and a 2.00-inch serpentine pulley with 6 grooves, solid and already fitted, comes on the unit; Powermaster's replacement pulley for it is part 114. No mounting bracket is included.
Who it suits
Powermaster pitches this one at early Ford-based platforms already converted to, or being converted to, a 16-volt racing electrical system, where it bolts in as a straightforward upgrade, and as a higher-output replacement where a lower-amperage alternator on the same case is falling short. Confirm your existing bracket fits this case and that your belt alignment suits the serpentine pulley before ordering.
