Details & Inspection Notes

The Performance Automatic C4 Super Comp PA53102 starts life as a selected core, then gets racing clutches and premium bands before being rated for up to 700 horsepower as a remanufactured 4-speed automatic. A trans-brake valve body and a full manual design put every shift under driver control, running a 2.40 first gear ratio through a 35-spline input shaft.

Built around decades of Ford C4 applications

This case covers Ford applications spanning the 1960s through the 1990s, a wide enough range that bellhousing bolt pattern matters more than the exact model year of the donor car. A hardened input shaft and a slip-on yoke on the tailshaft end round out the gearbox internals.

What a deep pan and trans-brake mean for use

The deep aluminum pan adds fluid capacity to help manage heat across repeated runs, which matters more on a trans-brake-equipped transmission than on one that only shifts automatically. Because the valve body is full manual, every upshift is driver-initiated, so plan on a compatible shifter rather than expecting stock-automatic behavior from the pedal or shift lever. At 10.000 inches, the tailshaft length is also worth checking against your existing driveshaft before ordering.

Is a torque converter included? No; this transmission ships on its own, so a torque converter, flexplate, wiring, and cooler all need to be sourced separately.
