The Performance Automatic Blue Chip Street Smart System PASS45206 pairs a Ford 4R70W electronically controlled overdrive transmission with a Smart Shift controller, built to support Ford small block Windsor engines up to 650 horsepower. It ships with the controller, a wiring harness, and a stock-type steel pan, so most of what a swap needs beyond the engine and driveshaft is already covered.

Engine compatibility beyond the Windsor

Besides small block Windsor engines, this system also works with Ford's Coyote, the 572 big block, EcoBoost engines at 2.0, 2.3, and 3.5 liters, and Ford's modular and FE families, which makes it a flexible choice if a build changes engines down the road. A new bellhousing design on this kit is meant to cover that range of engines without needing a different bellhousing for each one.

What the Smart Shift controller does

The controller supports full-throttle, non-torque-managed shifts along with bump-shifter and paddle-shifter control, paired with a torque converter built to match the engine for stall speed.
