Details & Inspection Notes

This OER steering wheel kit replaces a cracked or faded wheel on a 1966 Chevrolet Impala with a precision injection molded reproduction finished in red, built for that single model year's red interior trim.

What the kit includes

  • Steering wheel, red
  • Impala horn cap
  • Steering wheel horn repair kit

Together these three pieces give you what is needed to swap out a deteriorated original wheel without sourcing a horn cap or horn contact parts on their own. Your car's existing mounting hardware is reused for installation; none comes with this kit.

Before you order

Because this wheel is molded specifically for the 1966 Impala and finished in red, check that your dash, horn button, and interior color match before buying, since OER lists it against that single model year rather than a broader Impala range.

Does it need new mounting hardware? No; it is designed to go on using the hardware already on your steering column.

What comes along with the wheel itself? A matching horn cap and a horn repair kit, so the horn function is addressed along with the wheel.

Wheel Fitment & Installation Guide

  • Dry test-fit wheels on vehicle hub prior to mounting tires to verify brake caliper and suspension clearance.
  • Confirm PCD (pitch circle diameter), center bore sizing, and use hub-centric centering rings where required.
  • Hand-thread all lug nuts or bolts first, then torque in a star pattern to vehicle manufacturer specifications.
  • Re-torque all wheel fasteners after the first 50–100 miles (80–160 km) of road use.
