Details & Inspection Notes
New, white, and built on a 25-inch shaft, this Verado 400 CXL also offers counter rotation.
Cowl finish and what it changes
The white cowl is purely cosmetic; every mechanical spec matches a standard-finish CXL-spec engine in this line. Electronic gear shifting, hydraulic-assisted steering, and mounts built to isolate vibration are all standard on this engine, along with a starter that carries overload protection. Dual overhead cams work 24 valves atop a 2.6-liter inline-six here, weighing 668 pounds. Wide open, RPM lands between 6200 and 6800.
Setup notes
Confirm a 25-inch shaft matches your transom before ordering. Counter rotation being available makes this suitable for an opposite-rotating twin install. A tool kit, the owner's manual, plus mounting hardware ship together with the engine. Propeller selection is left to the buyer; none is included.
Is this a new or used engine? New.
Does the white finish affect performance? No, it is a cosmetic option only.
Is counter rotation required to buy this configuration? No, it simply means this unit supports a future opposite-rotating twin if you want one.
Does a new engine like this need any pre-installation checks? Confirm the 25-inch shaft against your transom and check that your rigging and controls are compatible before mounting it.
Is the white cowl a different color mix than other Verado 400 listings? It is one of Mercury's standard white options; the mechanics underneath do not change by color.
