Details & Inspection Notes

This XL-shaft Verado 300 is the single-engine, non-counter-rotating version of this 300-horsepower V-8, built on a 25-inch shaft. It is the straightforward choice for boats that do not need an opposite-rotating twin setup.

When counter rotation does and doesn't matter

Skip worrying about rotation direction if running a single engine or a matched pair that spins the same way; counter rotation only becomes relevant for twin installs where props need to turn opposite directions to balance torque. Since counter rotation is not listed here, this engine is meant to run solo, or alongside a matched, same-spinning partner, rather than half of an opposite-turning set. For that, Mercury offers a CXL version of this same 300.

Shared Verado 300 features

A V-8 four-stroke block, 4.6 liters, 600 pounds, forms the basis of this engine. Shifting and throttle response on this engine run through an electronic system, steering benefits from hydraulic assist, vibration is damped at the mounts, and the starter includes overload protection. This block spins 5200 to 6000 RPM at full throttle. It's supplied with mounting hardware, the owner's manual, along with a tool kit.

Can two of these run side by side on one boat? Yes, as a matched, same-rotation pair.

What's the warranty term? Three years, backed by Mercury Marine.

What should I measure before ordering? Transom height from the top of the transom to the keel at the centerline, compared against the 25-inch shaft offered here.
