Details & Inspection Notes
This XL-shaft Verado 250 runs on a 25-inch shaft without the counter-rotation option. It is the straightforward single-engine choice for boats already matched to a 25-inch shaft, without the added consideration of a twin, opposite-rotating setup.
Single-engine setup
Because this configuration skips counter rotation, it is meant for a single outboard rather than a counter-rotating pair. For a twin, opposite-spin install, look at the CXL version of this same engine instead. Otherwise, a 25-inch shaft is a common choice for mid-size center consoles and similar hulls with standard transom heights.
Features carried over from the Verado line
A 4.6-liter displacement defines this V-8 four-stroke, weighing in at 600 pounds. Smooth, electronic shifting on this unit pairs with hydraulic-assisted steering, mounts engineered to reduce vibration transfer to the hull, and a starter built to guard against overload. Full throttle falls in the 5200-to-6000-RPM band. It arrives with the owner's manual, a tool kit, and mounting hardware, packed in. No propeller ships with this engine.
Is counter rotation available on this unit? No, choose the CXL configuration if an opposite-rotating engine is needed for a twin install.
What warranty is included? Mercury Marine's 3-year warranty.
Can I switch to counter rotation later? Not on this unit; counter rotation is a build-time option, not an add-on part.
