Details & Inspection Notes
This is the same XL-shaft Verado 250 as the standard-finish version, only finished in Mercury's white cowl options rather than the usual darker cowl. The shaft is still 25 inches, and rotation direction is still a single, standard option rather than the counter-rotating choice CXL buyers get.
Choosing between finishes
Mechanically there is nothing different here from the standard XL. The drivetrain here shifts electronically, steering carries hydraulic assistance for easier handling, the mount design keeps vibration from reaching the hull, and the starter includes overload protection. The real decision is cowl color, offered in warm fusion, pearl fusion white, and cold fusion, to better suit a lighter hull or to match a white-cowl engine already on a twin-engine boat.
What to check before ordering
Confirm your transom suits a 25-inch shaft, and remember this configuration is not built for counter-rotating twin installs; a matched pair running the same rotation is fine, but true opposite-rotation twins need the CXL version instead. Weighing 600 pounds, this V-8 four-stroke draws 4.6 liters of displacement. Running flat out, RPM lands between 5200 and 6000. You'll get the owner's manual, a tool kit, plus mounting hardware with this engine.
Can I run two of these side by side? Yes, as a same-rotation pair; for opposite rotation, choose the CXL instead.
Does the color affect performance? No, the white finishes are cosmetic only and carry no mechanical change.
