Details & Inspection Notes
The CXL version of Mercury's Verado 250 is built with a 25-inch shaft and the counter-rotation option checked. It suits boats already sized for a V-8 outboard where quiet running and car-like steering feel matter as much as raw thrust, and where a second, opposite-rotating engine may eventually go on the transom.
What the V-8 platform brings
This engine's block displaces 4.6 liters as a V-8 four-stroke, tipping the scale at 600 pounds. Gear changes run through an electronic shift system, the wheel carries hydraulic power assist, the engine mounts are tuned to isolate vibration, and the starter includes overload protection. Full throttle sits between 5200 and 6000 RPM.
Fitting this shaft length
Measure your transom before ordering: a 25-inch shaft suits taller transom heights, and getting that measurement wrong is one of the most common rigging errors on an outboard this size. Because counter rotation is offered on this unit, it is worth considering now if a second engine with opposite prop rotation is part of your plan. It ships with the owner's manual, mounting hardware, and a tool kit.
Does it come with a propeller? No. A propeller is sold separately and should be matched to your boat and gearing.
How do I check if my transom needs this shaft length? Measure straight down from the top of the transom (or splash well) to the keel at the centerline, then compare that figure to the shaft length offered here.
What warranty does it carry? Mercury Marine's 3-year warranty.
