Details & Inspection Notes

The Mercury 9.9HP 9.9ELPT ProKicker EFI Outboard is a 9.9 hp, two-cylinder four-stroke sized to run as a dedicated trolling motor, a backup engine, or a way to rest a larger main outboard. It runs on electronic fuel injection, starts on an electric key, and is set up with remote throttle and shift rather than a tiller arm.

What sets this one apart

This ELPT version carries a 20 inch long shaft paired with remote controls, which suits boats already wired for console or side-mount steering instead of a tiller handle. Displacement is 12.8 cubic inches (208cc) across two cylinders, and the engine reaches full throttle in the 5000 to 6000 rpm band. At 114 lbs it stays light enough for a transom bracket or kicker plate without overloading it.

What to check before buying

Match your boat's helm to remote throttle and shift before ordering, since this is not the tiller-handle configuration. Mounting it as a kicker next to a main engine also means checking bracket height and transom spacing so the two propellers clear each other at trolling speed.

What comes with it

Standard equipment includes a safety lanyard stop switch, a tool kit, and the owner's manual, plus a Command Thrust four-blade, high-thrust aluminum propeller, all under Mercury Marine's 3-year warranty, finished in Phantom Black.

Could this get a boat home if the main engine fails? It is built and sized as a backup and trolling motor, so it can move the boat, though it will not match a full-size main engine's speed.

Is there a tiller handle on this version? No, this unit runs on remote throttle and shift controls instead.
