Details & Inspection Notes

This new Mercury 6HP 6MH outboard is the short-shaft, tiller-steered version of Mercury's compact portable line, built with an integral fuel tank that also connects to a remote tank for longer range. At 57 lbs, it mounts and carries easily on small jon boats, skiffs, inflatables, and sailboats running it as auxiliary power.

What it is built for

Mercury tunes this engine for a sharp launch off idle and a throttle that answers immediately, rather than for long-range cruising, with reliable manual starting and low vibration. The 15-inch short shaft suits boats with a lower transom; a taller transom calls for a longer-shaft version of this same engine instead.

Specs and what's included

This single-cylinder engine displaces 123 cc, or 7.5 cubic inches, and Mercury rates full throttle between 5000 and 6000 rpm. In the box you'll find a three-blade aluminum propeller, 7.7 inches across with an 8.0-inch pitch, finished in Phantom Black, plus an integrated carry handle, a safety lanyard stop switch, a tool kit, and the owner's manual. Mercury Marine backs it with a 3-year warranty, and the internal fuel tank holds 0.3 gallons on its own.

Can I connect this to a larger fuel tank? Yes, Mercury built this engine to connect to a remote tank when you need more range than the internal 0.3-gallon tank gives.

What boats does this motor suit? Small jon boats, skiffs, inflatables, utility boats, and sailboats running it as a light auxiliary. Mercury outboards
