Details & Inspection Notes
Add Command Thrust to that same ELPT layout, and the result is this new 60HP FourStroke: console steering, electric start, long shaft, geared toward pulling load at low speed rather than chasing it on top end.
Output and weight
Mercury's numbers for this engine show full throttle at 5500 to 6000 rpm. Displacement comes to 60.8, with electronic fuel injection standing in for a carburetor. At 247 lbs dry, it carries the same weight Mercury lists for the whole 60HP FourStroke range. Power trim and tilt operate from the console.
Before ordering
Verify your boat already has the remote control cables and box, since this steering style will not connect to a tiller handle. Match your transom to the 20-inch long shaft, and since the motor arrives without a propeller, choose one built for Command Thrust's low-speed bias rather than a standard-gearcase prop. Warranty coverage here runs 3 years from Mercury, and the crate includes mounting hardware, a tool kit, the quick-connect fuel line, and an owner's manual.
Is this heavier than the standard-gearcase ELPT because of Command Thrust? Mercury lists the same 247 lbs dry weight for this rigging as for the rest of the 60HP FourStroke line.
What's the difference between this and the standard-gearcase ELPT? Just the gearcase: Command Thrust trades some top speed for load-carrying ability at low rpm. Mercury outboards
