Details & Inspection Notes
Add Command Thrust to the ELHPT code and you get this new 60HP FourStroke: tiller-steered, electric-start, long-shaft, but geared for load-pulling rather than top speed. The larger-diameter propeller that Command Thrust is built around is what carries heavier loads at low rpm than the standard-gearcase 60HP manages.
Power and weight
Full throttle on this engine spans 5500 to 6000 rpm, with displacement listed at 60.8 and electronic fuel injection in place of a carburetor. It weighs 247 lbs dry, the same figure Mercury gives across this 60HP FourStroke range. Trim and tilt work electrically from the tiller handle, clearing the motor from the water without a hand lever.
What to check first
Confirm your transom suits a 20-inch long shaft; Mercury also builds this family in other shaft lengths that would sit wrong on a different hull. Because Command Thrust is built around a larger prop, and this motor ships without one, choose a propeller sized for that gearcase rather than for a standard-gearcase 60HP. Mercury's 3-year warranty applies to this engine, and what ships includes mounting hardware, a tool kit, the owner's manual, and a quick-connect fuel line.
What does Command Thrust change day to day? Mainly low-speed handling and towing or load capacity, at some cost to top-end speed compared with a standard gearcase. Mercury outboards
