Details & Inspection Notes
This used Mercury 60ELHPT outboard pairs tiller steering with the Command Thrust gearcase, built around a larger propeller for pushing heavier loads at low speed rather than chasing top-end speed. Electric start and a 20-inch shaft round out this rigging.
Engine specs
This inline-4, single-overhead-cam engine carries a CID/CC displacement of 60.8/995. Mercury rates full throttle between 5500 and 6000 rpm, dry weight at 247 lbs, and the gearcase ratio at 2.33:1. An 18-amp, 226-watt alternator and a 20-degree shallow water trim range round out the package, along with an optional remote fuel tank connection.
Controls and running it
Starting is electric turn-key, throttle and shift controls are mechanical and sold separately, and electronic fuel injection handles fuel delivery. Mercury recommends 87-octane fuel with up to 10 percent ethanol and its own FourStroke 25W-40 oil. This is a pre-owned engine, so running hours differ unit to unit; let us know if you need that information before ordering. Mercury backs this family of engines with its standard 3-year warranty.
Does this come with a propeller? Confirm propeller inclusion with us before ordering, since sizing depends on your hull and load with the Command Thrust gearcase.
Can this run off a remote fuel tank instead of carrying its own? Yes, Mercury lists an optional remote fuel tank connection for this engine. Mercury outboards
