This used 2022 Mercury 600XL Verado FourStroke outboard is the Phantom Black version of Mercury's flagship V12, built around a 7.6-liter (461 CID) displacement that is among the largest Mercury puts in an outboard case. Output and construction

Mercury rates full throttle between 5600 and 6400 rpm, with a bore and stroke of 3.8 by 3.4 inches, or 96 by 87 millimeters, and a 2.50:1 gearcase ratio. Dry weight is 1260 lbs, and electronic fuel injection is computer-controlled for range optimization rather than relying on a simple throttle-body setup. Starting is electric with SmartStart protection, and the 150-amp alternator is sized for boats running heavy electronics.

Running and maintenance

Mercury's fuel recommendation is unleaded regular at 87 octane minimum, stepping up to 90 RON if you run ethanol-blended fuel up to 10 percent. Oil is Mercury or Quicksilver full-synthetic 10W-30, filled to roughly 13.3 liters, or 14 quarts. This engine ships without a propeller, so plan on selecting one sized to your hull once it arrives.
