The new Mercury 30HP Mlhga FourStroke keeps the manual pull-start and gas-assist trim found on this line's short-shaft model but moves to a longer leg for taller transoms, without changing anything else about how the powerhead runs. Tiller steering and a 172 lb dry weight carry over unchanged across both lengths.

A longer shaft, same simple start

Choose this version when your transom needs the extra shaft length; everything about the starting and trim system stays the same otherwise, including the absence of a battery to maintain or a charging circuit to inspect. The inline-3 reaches full throttle at 5250-6250 rpm regardless of which shaft length you pick.
