Details & Inspection Notes
Mercury's used 300XXL Verado FourStroke, finished here in Phantom Black, puts a 300 hp V8 on a 30-inch shaft, with electro-hydraulic power steering and digital throttle and shift fitted from the factory. Fuel delivery is managed automatically at cruise through Advanced Range Optimization, with no change noticeable at the helm.
The longer shaft, explained
This 30-inch leg is meant for deeper transoms than a shorter Verado in the same lineup would suit; it is fixed at the factory, so measure the boat first. An advanced mid-section is built into the design to tame vibration, pushing dry weight to 600 lbs as a result.
Electrical and engine details
The 115-amp alternator and its idle charge cover a bigger electrical load here than a base FourStroke draws. At 4.6 liters and 279 cid, the V8 still carries 32 valves on its dual camshafts, tops out near 5200-6000 rpm, and runs on a 1.75:1 gearcase ratio.
What color is this motor? Phantom Black.
Does it include a propeller? No, propellers are sold separately from the powerhead.
Riggers moving this unit onto a new boat should plan on the same mounting pattern as the 25-inch Verado, just with the longer leg to account for.
This used motor's service records and hours should be checked before buying. Mercury's combined coverage reaches 5 years on this unit, 3 of them standard and 2 more through Product Protection Gold.
