Details & Inspection Notes

This used Mercury 300CXXL Verado FourStroke puts the Verado's 300 horsepower V8 on a 30 inch shaft, for boats with deeper transoms than the 25 inch CXL version, and comes finished in Warm Fusion White.

Why the longer shaft

This is the longest shaft Mercury offers in this Verado 300 range; measure your transom carefully, since mounting a motor this long on a shallower transom hurts performance and cooling just as much as a too-short shaft does on a deep one. Advanced Range Optimization adjusts fuel delivery automatically for better cruise-speed economy.

Specifications

The V8 displaces 4.6 liters (279 CID), 64 degrees with dual overhead cams and 32 valves; full throttle reaches 5200 to 6000 rpm through a 1.75:1 gearcase, bore 3.6 inches and stroke 3.4 inches. Its alternator is rated 115 amps, or 1449 watts, and the dry weight figure lands at 600 lbs.

Fuel and oil

This engine wants 87 octane regular unleaded at minimum, or 90 RON with an ethanol content up to 10 percent, and takes NMMA certified FCW SAE 25W-40 as its oil, switching to 10W-30 when it's cold out, with a 7 quart capacity overall. Being a used engine, ask about hour meter readings and service history directly, since cosmetic condition alone will not tell the full story; the propeller is not included.

Does this unit include counter rotation? Not specified here; confirm counter rotation availability with us before planning a paired installation.
