Details & Inspection Notes
This used Mercury 300CXL Verado FourStroke is a 300 horsepower V8 on a 25 inch shaft, finished in Warm Fusion White, with counter rotation available for twin-engine rigging.
What sets the Verado apart
Advanced Range Optimization automatically adjusts fuel delivery to improve cruise-speed efficiency without the operator noticing a change in feel or sound. This engine takes digital throttle and shift as a separate purchase, and its steering is electro-hydraulic.
Specifications
Bore and stroke measure 3.6 and 3.4 inches on this V8, which displaces 4.6 liters, or 279 cubic inches, across a 64-degree block with dual overhead cams and 32 valves. Full throttle spins the engine through a 5200-6000 rpm range via a 1.75:1 gearcase. The alternator is rated at 115 amps (1449 watts), charging even at idle, with dry weight landing at 600 lbs, heavier than the non-Verado version in this range. Maximum trim spans 20 degrees between -6 and 14, and maximum tilt spans 73 degrees between -6 and 67.
Fuel, oil, and coverage
Fuel should be at least 87 octane regular unleaded, or 90 RON, with no more than 10 percent ethanol content, and oil should be NMMA certified FCW SAE 25W-40, 10W-30 optional in cold weather, at a 7 quart capacity. Being a used engine, inspect it against that history rather than expecting new-in-box condition. In total, 5 years of Mercury coverage apply, combining the 3-year factory warranty with 2 added years of Product Protection Gold, and the propeller is not included.
