Details & Inspection Notes

This used Mercury 25MLH FourStroke is a manual-start, tiller-steered outboard on a 20 inch shaft, with a manual trim system rather than the push-button trim found on PT-equipped motors in this range.

Controls

Expect to set running angle and tilt by hand on this motor rather than from a switch; keeping trim manual makes the rigging lighter and simpler than a power-trim setup, at the cost of convenience when load or conditions change often.

Powerhead and running gear

A 32.1 cubic inch, 526cc three-cylinder four-stroke drives this motor to 5000-6000 rpm at full throttle on electronic fuel injection through a single overhead cam head, with CDI ignition. Forward, neutral, and reverse come from a 1.92:1 gearcase, cooled by water through a thermostat. A 6.6 gallon tank is standard, dry weight is 157 lbs, and shallow water trim tops out at 16 degrees. Mercury's own FourStroke 10W-30 oil and 90 RON fuel are the minimum recommendation. Finish is Phantom Black; this one does not ship with a propeller.

Service history and coverage

Being used, it should show wear in line with its service history rather than new cosmetics. Warranty coverage adds up to 5 years here, pairing the standard 3-year term with 2 extra years of Mercury's Product Protection Gold plan.

Does this model have power trim? No, trim here is manual, set by hand rather than from a switch.
