Details & Inspection Notes

Add power trim and tilt to the tiller-steered, electric-start format and you get the Mercury 25HP ELHPT FourStroke, a new outboard on a 20 inch shaft that adjusts running angle from a switch rather than a lever.

What PT adds

Power trim and tilt is the main difference between this model and a plainer tiller version in the same range: instead of muscling the motor by hand, you tap a button near the tiller grip. That matters most for boats that shift between light and heavy loads, or that need to raise the motor for shallow water quickly.

Powerhead and fit

The powerhead here is a three-cylinder, 32.1 cubic inch four-stroke, spinning to 5000-6000 rpm at full throttle through EFI and weighing 157 lbs dry. Check the 20 inch shaft against your transom height before ordering; a tiller motor this size is typically mounted on aluminum fishing, utility, or jon boats where the operator sits within arm's reach of the handle.

Included and warranty

Mercury rounds out the ELHPT with an owner's manual and mounting hardware, a tool kit, plus the 6.6 gallon tank and its quick-connect line, all backed by a 3-year factory warranty. The propeller ships separately so it can be matched to your boat and load.

What does PT mean here? Power trim and tilt, run from a switch instead of a hand lever.
