Details & Inspection Notes

This used Mercury 25ELH keeps tiller steering on a 20-inch shaft, longer than a 15-inch tiller motor, with manual trim rather than power trim, landing between the two other 25-horsepower configurations in this lineup.

Longer shaft, tiller steering

Where some 25-horsepower configurations use a shorter shaft or a remote console, this ELH pairs the 20-inch shaft with direct tiller steering and a manual trim lever, suited to boats needing the longer shaft without console controls.

Specification

Full throttle RPM for this inline-3 runs 5000 to 6000. Alternator output is 15 amp, or 186 watt. Shallow water trim range tops out at 16 degrees, and the gearcase ratio is 1.92:1. Displacement is 526 cc, or 32.1 cubic inches.

Dry weight is listed at 157 lbs, the lightest in its category per Mercury. EFI handles fuel delivery through a two-valve-per-cylinder, single-overhead-cam head, with electric turn-key starting.

Q: Why pick the longer shaft here? Match shaft length to your transom height first; this is the deciding factor between the 25-horsepower configurations.

Q: Will this ship with a propeller? It will not; pick one separately for your boat.

This used motor calls for Mercury FourStroke 10W-30 oil and 90 RON unleaded fuel at a minimum.

Q: Does tiller steering limit where this motor can go? Not generally; it suits the same range of small boats a remote-steered motor does, just with the controls at the motor itself.
