Details & Inspection Notes
This used Mercury 25EH is a tiller-steered, 25-horsepower inline-3 four-stroke on a 15-inch shaft, with manual trim rather than power trim, the simplest control layout among the 25-horsepower motors covered here.
Tiller control, manual trim
Steering is by tiller, meaning the operator steers directly at the motor rather than through a remote console, and trim is adjusted by hand rather than with a power switch. This combination suits smaller boats or simpler rigs that do not need console steering or powered trim.
Specification
This inline-3 displaces 32.1 cubic inches, or 526 cc. Full throttle tops out between 5000 and 6000 RPM. The gearcase ratio is 1.92:1, and shallow water trim range is 16 degrees. Alternator output is rated 15 amp, or 186 watt.
Mercury's own figures list a 157 lbs dry weight as the lightest model in its category. The head uses a single overhead cam with two valves per cylinder, and starting is electric, turn-key.
Q: Is this new? No, it is a used motor; check condition against the listing before ordering.
Q: Does it include a propeller? No; source one separately to match your boat.
Fuel delivery is EFI, and the recommended fuel is 90 RON unleaded minimum, using Mercury FourStroke 10W-30 oil.
Q: Is tiller steering harder to get used to than a console? It simply puts the controls at the motor instead of a dashboard; plenty of owners prefer it on smaller boats.
