Details & Inspection Notes

Thirty inches is the shaft length on this used Mercury 250XXL Verado, longer than Mercury's shorter-shaft Verado at the same horsepower, and finished in Phantom Black.

Why the longer shaft here

A 30-inch shaft suits a taller transom than a shorter Verado would, so take your own transom measurement rather than assuming the two bolt on the same way. Everything else about this Verado's running gear carries over unchanged.

What makes it a Verado and not a FourStroke

  • 600 lbs dry weight, heavier than the FourStroke builds in this family
  • A 115-amp (1449 watt) alternator with idle charge
  • A 1.85:1 gearcase ratio
  • Power steering runs electro-hydraulic, not a cable linkage

Underneath, displacement is 279 cubic inches (4.6 liters) on a 64-degree V-8, with dual overhead cams, 32 valves, and a 5200-6000 RPM full-throttle range. Digital Throttle and Shift compatibility is built in, with controls sold separately.

Q: Is a propeller part of this package? It is not; buy one separately to suit your boat.

Q: What is covered mechanically for trim and tilt? Maximum trim is rated at 20 degrees and maximum tilt at 73 degrees. Electric starting is backed by SmartStart protection.

Oil capacity is rated at 7.0 quarts, running through a 5.44-inch gearcase. As with any used outboard, confirm hours and service records before relying on the listed specification alone.
