Details & Inspection Notes
This used Mercury 250L FourStroke DTS is a V-8 on a 20-inch shaft, built with dual overhead cams and 32 valves across its 64-degree, 279 CID block, paired with Mercury's digital throttle and shift controls sold separately from the powerhead.
Why the shorter shaft and DTS pairing
A 20-inch shaft suits a standard transom height rather than a raised mount, and DTS is sold apart from the motor itself, so budget for compatible helm hardware if you do not already own it. Steering can otherwise be hydraulic or power, both listed as optional.
Specification
Full throttle runs 5200-6000 RPM. Dry weight is listed at 527 lbs. Separately, gearcase ratio reads 1.75:1, and an 85-amp, 1071-watt alternator with idle charge is fitted. Maximum trim range runs 20 degrees and maximum tilt range runs 73 degrees.
Mercury lists this as the lightest model available in its class, with an integrated wet sump lubrication system and water-cooled, thermostat-controlled cooling.
Protection and condition
SmartCraft Engine Guardian watches over the engine, with electric starting backed by SmartStart protection.
Q: Is this new? No, this is a used motor; condition should be verified directly rather than assumed.
Q: What about the propeller? None is included; match one to your boat separately.
Gearcase measures 5.44 inches, and oil capacity is rated 7.0 quarts, with EFI and power trim and tilt fitted.
