Details & Inspection Notes
This white Mercury 250HP CXXL keeps the 30-inch shaft and remote mechanical steering of the standard CXXL. For owners matching the motor to their hull, it can be ordered in cold fusion white, warm fusion white, or pearl fusion white.
Mechanical control comes first
Remote mechanical steering here means cable-and-cam helm controls, not Mercury's digital shift; a boat rigged for DTS should look at the digital version of this same CXXL. The long shaft demands careful transom-height measurement, since getting it wrong affects how the gearcase sits in the water.
Specification and included parts
Counter rotation is available on this CXXL for twin-engine installations, and the motor runs the same V-8 no matter which color is chosen. The RPM range at full throttle is 5200 to 6000. On the scale this reads 527 lbs dry. Displacement on this V-8 is 4.6. The box contains a tool kit, mounting hardware, and the owner's manual. You'll need to add a propeller separately; none ships with the motor.
Q: Is this the same engine as the non-color CXXL? Mechanically, yes.
Standard here: EFI plus power trim and tilt. Coverage here runs 3 years under Mercury Marine's warranty. Mercury outboards offer these finishes across several shaft lengths in this V-8 range. Written specifications are a starting point; physical fitment on the boat is the final check. Treat the two as complementary, not interchangeable. Older boats sometimes have transom cutouts sized for a specific shaft length, which is worth checking before ordering. A boat's rigging history is worth reviewing before ordering a replacement motor of any kind.
