Mercury 250CXXL Verado FourStroke

This used Mercury 250CXXL Verado FourStroke carries the same 250 hp V8 and built-in Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering as the CXL Verado, but on a 30 inch shaft for taller transoms, finished in Phantom Black.

Powerhead and steering

This V8 is built on a 64-degree bank, 4.6 liters or 279 cubic inches; 32 valves ride on dual overhead camshafts, and the factory bore and stroke specs land at 3.6 and 3.4 inches. Lower-unit gearing sits at a 1.85 ratio inside a 5.44 inch gearcase housing, and the unit is counter-rotation capable.

Fit and rigging

At 30 inches, this shaft suits a taller transom than the 25 inch CXL Verado, so confirm that measurement before ordering rather than assuming any Verado 250 will fit the same boat. Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering is built in rather than optional, DTS controls are sold separately, and electric start runs through SmartStart Protection. Advanced Range Optimization adjusts fuel delivery automatically for better cruise efficiency. Dry weight is 600 lbs.

Because the CXL and CXXL Verado share everything but shaft length, a shop quote for rigging or service parts on one will carry over directly to the other.
