Details & Inspection Notes
At 30 inches, this used Mercury 225XXL FourStroke Outboard Motor carries the tallest shaft offered on this V6, rigged for a digital-ready helm running Digital Throttle and Shift.
Powerhead
The powerhead is a 209 cubic inch, 3.4 liter V6 built on a 64-degree bank; twin camshafts work 24 valves overhead, and the factory bore and stroke figures are 3.6 and 3.4 inches. Run 87 octane at minimum, or 90 RON fuel with up to 10 percent ethanol content, per Mercury's fuel chart.
What to confirm before ordering
A DTS harness is purchased on its own for this one; SmartStart Protection covers starting, and the steering can be stepped up with hydraulic, power, or joystick piloting hardware. This one is listed at 475 lbs dry. On oil, Mercury calls for its NMMA-certified FC-W 25W-40, filled to a 7.0 quart (6.6 liter) capacity. The 30 inch shaft is meant for a taller transom than the 20 inch version in this family, so confirm that measurement first rather than ordering by horsepower alone. No propeller is included.
Since no color is named for this one, treat it as the standard factory cowling, distinct from the Cold Fusion White sibling that carries the same drivetrain at the same 30 inch shaft length. Either version suits the same boats: hulls originally designed around a taller-than-average transom setback.
What control type does this use? Digital Throttle and Shift.
