Details & Inspection Notes
A 225 HP V-6 outboard built for boats that need serious cruising power, this FourStroke rides on a 30-inch, extra-extra-long shaft and tips the scale at 475 lbs. Steering is remote mechanical rather than tiller, and the motor starts electrically with power-adjustable trim and tilt.
Power and controls
EFI fuel delivery and a 3.4 displacement carry this V-6 to a 5200-6000 RPM full-throttle range. A remote mechanical setup handles steering, so plan for the matching helm hardware and cables, while trim and tilt adjust the running angle from the console rather than by hand.
What to check before ordering
The 30-inch, XXL shaft length is built for larger transoms than Mercury's standard long-shaft motors, so measure before you commit. Because steering is remote rather than tiller, confirm your boat already has, or can take, the cable runs and control box this motor expects, and that your battery and wiring can support electric start.
What ships and what doesn't
The crate holds mounting hardware, a spare tool kit, and the printed owner's manual; sizing and buying a propeller is left to the installer, so budget for one separately, matched to your boat and gearing.
Common questions
Do I need to buy a propeller separately? Yes, this listing does not include one.
How long is the warranty? Mercury Marine covers this outboard for 3 years.
Is this motor new? Yes.
