Details & Inspection Notes

This used Mercury 225CXXL FourStroke Cold Fusion DTS is the same 225 hp V6, Digital Throttle and Shift, Cold Fusion White motor as the CXL version, just on a 30 inch shaft for a taller transom.

Powerhead

Displacing 3.4 liters across 209 cubic inches, this 64-degree V6 carries 24 valves on dual overhead camshafts, bore 3.6 inches by stroke 3.4 inches. The alternator is rated at 85 amps (1071 watts) with idle charge.

Rigging and specifications

What actually changes versus the CXL is reach: a 30 inch shaft rather than 25, so measure your transom height before ordering rather than assuming it will fit a shorter-shaft boat. DTS controls are sold separately, so a digital-ready helm is expected, and electric start runs on SmartStart Protection. Hydraulic, power, and joystick piloting remain the available steering upgrades. At 475 lbs on the scale, dry, this one weighs the same as the 25 inch version. Beyond the shaft length, this is the identical drivetrain and finish as the 25 inch Cold Fusion CXL, so pick based purely on how tall your transom sits. No propeller is included.

Boats originally built with a taller transom or a setback bracket are the usual candidates for the extra 5 inches of shaft, rather than a standard recreational hull sized for the shorter CXL.

What's the difference from the CXL Cold Fusion? Only the shaft length: 30 inches here versus 25 on the CXL.
