Details & Inspection Notes
This new 20HP 20EPT FourStroke keeps the short 15 inch shaft but pairs it with remote mechanical steering for console operation on this EFI two-cylinder powerhead. It weighs 99 lbs, runs a 5700 to 6200 rpm full-throttle range, and carries a 12/145 electric alternator.
Short shaft, console control
Remote mechanical steering frees you from running the motor by hand at the transom, a different setup than the tiller-steered versions of this same engine sold alongside it. The short shaft here pairs with a lower transom than the long-shaft version of this same motor. The alternator output here matters most if your boat already runs other electronics off the same battery; size your charging needs accordingly before relying on this motor alone. A proper break-in period still applies to this unit, just as it would to any other new outboard you might buy.
What ships with it
Standard equipment here is an aluminum propeller, an owner's manual, a tool kit, and the fuel tank-and-line combination: 3.2 gallons with a quick-connect fitting.
The built-in alternator can keep a battery topped up while running, worth knowing if your boat carries other electronics drawing power alongside this motor.
Is starting electric here? Yes, an electric starter handles it.
Does a warranty apply? Yes, Mercury's 3-year term, since the motor is sold new.
