Details & Inspection Notes
The 20HP 20ELPT FourStroke runs on a 20 inch long shaft with remote mechanical steering, suited to console operation rather than a tiller handle, on this same electronically fuel-injected two-cylinder powerhead. Mercury lists it at 99 lbs, with a 5700 to 6200 rpm range at full throttle.
Console-steered setup
Remote mechanical controls put steering and throttle at a console rather than at the transom, the setup to choose if your boat is rigged for console operation instead of tiller control. Check that your existing cables and control box, if any, are compatible before ordering. Remote controls keep the transom clear of an operator standing next to the motor to run it, a different layout than a tiller setup provides. Confirm your console has room for the control box and gauges before ordering this version over a tiller-steered alternative.
What ships with it
This motor comes with a printed owner's manual and a tool kit, the fuel side covered by a 3.2 gallon tank and its quick-connect line, plus an aluminum propeller rounding out the package.
This longer shaft needs a taller transom than the short-shaft versions sold in this same lineup; confirm your transom height before ordering.
Electric start on this one? Yes, it starts electrically rather than by pulling a cord.
How long is it covered? A 3-year Mercury Marine warranty backs this new outboard from the factory.
