Details & Inspection Notes

This used 20EPT FourStroke keeps a shorter 15 inch shaft while adding power tilt and remote steering controls, sold separately, in place of the tiller handle and manual trim found on some siblings of this engine.

Short shaft, remote, power tilt

A 15 inch shaft suits a lower transom than the longer versions of this motor, and pairing remote controls with power tilt lets you run it from a console and adjust its angle electrically.

Running it

Protection circuitry watches for low oil pressure, over-rev conditions, overheating, and sensor failure here. Mercury caps ethanol at 10 percent and sets 87 octane as the floor, pairing both with its 25W-40 synthetic blend oil and a standard 3.2 gallon tank.

Since this unit is sold used, verify logged hours and service records before you order, rather than relying on shaft length or control type to guess at condition. A propeller ships included with the motor.

A shorter shaft and remote controls together suit a specific kind of boat; if your transom and console do not already match this combination, rigging costs can add up quickly. Power tilt wiring is a further addition on top of the console work remote steering alone would need, so plan the budget accordingly.

Will a propeller come with it? Yes, this unit includes one.
