Details & Inspection Notes

This used 20ELPT FourStroke carries power tilt and remote steering, sold separately, on a 20 inch shaft, in place of the manually adjusted trim found on some siblings of this 20 hp two-cylinder platform.

Remote control, power tilt

Remote steering lets you run this motor from a console instead of standing at the transom, and power tilt adjusts the motor angle electrically rather than by hand.

Running it

A warning system guards against low oil pressure, running past the rev limit, overheating, and sensor problems. No less than 87 octane, no more than 10 percent ethanol, and Mercury's own 25W-40 synthetic blend oil are what this engine wants, backed by a 3.2 gallon fuel tank.

This is a used motor, so get logged hours and service history from us before buying. A propeller comes with it, already matched and ready to mount.

Console space for remote controls and the wiring for power tilt are two separate things to plan for if you are moving up from a simpler tiller-and-manual-trim setup. Budget a bit of extra time for that wiring if your console was not already set up with either feature, and factor the labor into your total cost.

Is there a propeller in the box? Yes, one is included with the motor.
