Details & Inspection Notes

This used 20EL FourStroke runs the same 20 hp, two-cylinder powerhead as its tiller-steered siblings, on a 20 inch shaft with remote steering controls, sold separately, in place of a tiller handle. Trim is manual.

Shaft and controls

A 20 inch shaft fits a taller transom than the shorter versions of this engine, and remote controls let the operator steer from a console rather than standing at the motor; confirm your boat can take remote control hardware before ordering.

Running it

An onboard warning system watches oil pressure, over-rev conditions, overheating, and sensor failures on this engine. Gas needs to be at least 87 octane, with ethanol capped at 10 percent, and the oil of choice is Mercury's 25W-40 synthetic blend, in a motor carrying a 3.2 gallon tank.

This unit is sold used, so check logged hours and service records with us ahead of purchase. A propeller comes included, one less item to source separately when rigging the boat.

Console-mounted remote controls take up panel space that a tiller motor never would, so check your existing console layout before committing to this control type over a tiller version of the same engine.

Is a propeller part of the package? Yes, it ships with the motor already.
