Mercury 200XL FourStroke DTS Outboard Motor

This used 200XL FourStroke DTS carries the same 200 hp V6 powerhead as its 20 inch "L" sibling, but on a 25 inch shaft, with Digital Throttle & Shift controls sold separately and a choice of hydraulic or power steering. It is finished in Phantom Black rather than an unpainted or white option.

Why shaft length matters here

The longer 25 inch shaft is meant for taller transoms than the shorter versions of this same engine sold alongside it; measure your boat's actual transom height before ordering instead of guessing between lengths, since the wrong call affects both handling and how deep the gearcase sits.

Running it: fuel, oil, and what's missing

This powerhead wants 87 octane unleaded as a floor, with 90 RON fuel at up to 10 percent ethanol as the alternative Mercury allows. Its own NMMA-certified FC-W oil is the recommended lubricant, with a 10W-30 option once the weather turns cold, and the sump holds 7.0 quarts. No propeller is included here, so plan to source one separately.

What warranty comes with it? Mercury's figures show a combined 5 years here, a 3-year standard term with two more years added under a Product Protection Gold plan, even though the unit itself is sold used.
