Details & Inspection Notes
This used 200L DTS FourStroke pairs a 200 hp V6 powerhead with a 20 inch shaft, sized for a lower transom than the extra-long versions of the same engine sold alongside it. Digital Throttle & Shift compatible controls are sold separately, and steering options stretch from hydraulic to power to full joystick piloting for outboards. Mercury lists dry weight at 475 lbs, the lightest motor in its class.
Matching shaft to transom
Shaft length is not a cosmetic choice: a 20 inch shaft, the "L" designation here, needs to land the antiventilation plate at roughly the right depth relative to your hull's bottom, so measure your transom before ordering rather than assuming any one length fits every boat. Getting this wrong changes how the motor sits relative to the waterline and affects both handling and fuel burn.
Coverage on this unit
Mercury's own figures put total coverage at 5 years on this model: its usual 3-year standard warranty, extended by two further years through a separately noted Product Protection Gold plan layered on top of the base term.
What controls does it need? DTS-compatible electronic controls, sold separately, plus your choice of hydraulic, power, or joystick piloting steering hardware to match your helm.
Is this unit new? No, it is sold used, so check with us on its hours and service background before ordering.
Can I switch to mechanical controls instead? A remote-mechanical version of this same 200L powerhead is sold separately if DTS is not what your boat is rigged for.
