Details & Inspection Notes
Shaft length drops to 20 inches on the 200HP L FourStroke DTS, long by this lineup's naming, while Digital Throttle & Shift keeps the same powerhead's electronic control.
Shaft length first
This shorter shaft is sized for a lower transom; check the boat's actual measurement rather than relying on the model name alone. Mercury puts dry weight at 475 lbs on this configuration, with electronic fuel injection and power trim and tilt built in.
Controls and what ships with it
Electronic throttle and shift come from the Digital Throttle & Shift system, replacing the mechanical linkage some boats in this family still run. In the box you will find mounting hardware, a tool kit, and an owner's manual; the propeller is a separate purchase sized to your gearcase.
Getting it running right
A shorter shaft like this one is worth confirming against your transom gauge rather than a tape measure alone, since the measurement point matters. New outboards also need a proper break-in: ease into higher rpm over the first several hours rather than running flat out from the start. Keep the owner's manual on hand for that schedule and for the service intervals that follow once the motor is in regular use.
What about mechanical steering on this shaft length? A cable-controlled version of this same L-shaft powerhead has its own listing.
What warranty applies? Mercury's 3-year warranty applies since this unit is sold new.
