Details & Inspection Notes
This used Mercury 200CXL FourStroke DTS Outboard Motor is a 475-pound V-6 rigged for Digital Throttle and Shift control and compatible with Mercury's SmartCraft digital systems, with a 25-inch shaft and electric start.
Digital controls and steering options
DTS controls are sold separately from the motor itself, so confirm you have compatible SmartCraft-ready controls before ordering. Steering can be rigged as hydraulic, power-assisted, or through SmartCraft's joystick piloting system, each offered as an option rather than standard with this unit.
Engine specifications
The 3.4-liter, 24-valve V-6 runs a 1.85:1 gearcase ratio and is rated up to 5800 RPM at full throttle, with an 85-amp alternator for charging demanding electronics. Counter rotation is available, which matters if pairing two outboards. Maximum trim range is 20 degrees and maximum tilt range is 73 degrees.
Buying a used DTS-rigged engine
Because DTS relies on an electronic connection rather than mechanical cables, it is worth confirming the wiring harness and any SmartCraft gauges from the original installation are included or already in place on your boat, since sourcing DTS-specific hardware separately later can be more involved than matching a mechanical cable.
What to expect on a used motor
Expect typical wear from a working life already behind this engine; it is sold used, not new. Mercury's standard three-year factory coverage applies here, stacked with a further two-year Product Protection Gold plan for five years altogether. A propeller is not included.
