Details & Inspection Notes

This Mercury 15HP 15ELHPT ProKicker EFI Outboard is a kicker-class 15 HP motor with a 20-inch long shaft, remote throttle control, electric start, and a four-blade high-thrust propeller, and it weighs 114 pounds.

Why the high-thrust prop matters

A four-blade high-thrust propeller is built for steady push at low RPM rather than top speed, which is exactly the job a ProKicker auxiliary motor does: holding a trolling speed or backing up a larger main outboard already mounted on the boat. Remote throttle control lets it pair with a console-mounted lever instead of a tiller arm.

Fitment before you order

The 20-inch long shaft here is sized for a higher kicker bracket than the short-shaft versions of this same 15 HP block, so confirm your transom and bracket height first. Because it steers from remote controls rather than a tiller, make sure your boat already has a compatible throttle binnacle and cable run.

Keeping a kicker motor ready to use

A kicker that only runs occasionally benefits from fresh fuel rather than gas that has sat in the tank for months, since ethanol-blended fuel can degrade and cause hard starting on an engine that is not used every week. Running it periodically, even briefly, helps keep seals and the fuel system in good shape between main-engine outings.

Is this a trolling motor? It is a gas-powered kicker outboard meant for trolling speed and auxiliary power, not an electric trolling motor.

What is the warranty? A standard three-year Mercury Marine warranty applies to this new engine.
