Details & Inspection Notes

Finished in Phantom Black, this used Mercury 150L FourStroke carries 150 HP through a 3.0-liter, SOHC four-cylinder powerhead and a 20-inch shaft with electric start. The 20-inch length is the shorter option Mercury offers at this horsepower, suited to boats with a lower transom than the extra-long versions in its lineup call for.

Engine and handling

At full throttle this engine reaches 5800 RPM off a 5000 RPM floor, spinning a 1.92:1 gearcase. Power trim covers 22 degrees and tilt covers 73, backed by a 756-watt, 60-amp belt-driven alternator. Multi-port EFI is managed through a SmartCraft ignition module, and Mercury calls for a minimum of 90 octane unleaded fuel and its own FourStroke 10W-30 oil, with an oil capacity of 6.3 quarts.

Coverage and what to check

Total coverage adds up to five years here: three years under Mercury's standard warranty, plus two more through a Product Protection Gold plan. The propeller is not included, so plan for that separately, and since this is a used engine, ask the seller about hours and service history before buying.

What color is this engine? Phantom Black.

Does it include a propeller? No, a propeller must be sourced separately.

Is steering remote or tiller? Remote; Mercury offers mechanical, hydraulic, and electro-hydraulic steering hardware for this engine depending on the boat.
