Details & Inspection Notes
This new Mercury 115HP ELPT FourStroke with Command Thrust pairs the standard 20-inch shaft with the Command Thrust gearcase, aimed at boats on a standard transom that still want the larger propeller and extra low-speed bite Command Thrust provides.
Command Thrust on the shorter shaft
Unlike the extra-long-shaft Command Thrust version in this lineup, this one keeps the shorter leg for a standard transom while adding the same larger-diameter, higher-bite propeller setup, which suits a loaded pontoon, bass boat, or aluminum fishing boat with a shallower transom that still needs strong low-speed thrust for docking or pushing a heavy load off idle.
Specifications and equipment
The powerhead is a multi-port-EFI inline four, 8 valves, single overhead cam, 2.1 liters, paired with remote mechanical steering and electric start; it runs up to 5000-6000 rpm wide open at a dry weight of 359 pounds. Mercury Marine's 3-year warranty covers the engine, and the box includes an owner's manual, mounting hardware, and a tool kit. A propeller is not included, so plan to size one for your hull and load separately.
Does this have the Command Thrust gearcase? Yes, confirmed in its own specifications. What shaft length is it? 20 inches, shorter than the extra-long Command Thrust version in this fleet. Why choose Command Thrust on a standard-transom boat? A loaded pontoon or fishing boat on a standard transom can still benefit from the extra low-speed bite without needing the longer shaft at all.
